Day 72: Sunrise Silhouettes and Sunstars

Dawned with the promise of capturing nature's ephemeral artistry. A conversation from the previous evening lingered in my mind, centred around the potential of a solitary fig tree by the tranquil shores of Black Beach in Kiama. The idea had taken root, and I knew exactly where this day’s photographic journey would lead me.

Sunrise began at the continental pool, where the first golden rays were greeted by the tranquil waters. With the initial shoot proving fruitful, I ventured towards the fig tree, a stoic sentinel outlined against the waking sky. My wide-angle lens was at the ready, anticipating the interplay of light that was soon to unfold.

As the sun climbed, its rays pierced through the foliage, casting a dazzling sunstar that seemed to hold the morning’s calm in its glow. The tree's silhouette, edged with light, stood stark against the luminescence, its grand outline a testament to the enduring beauty of nature's forms. The scene was more than visual; it was a feeling—of peace, of stillness, of the day awakening in harmony with the earth.

Today’s capture is not just an image—it’s a narrative of the tree and its coastal backdrop, of the light that dances through its leaves, and of a morning that speaks in hushed tones of the beauty that surrounds us, waiting to be found in the most familiar of places.
