Day 73: A Study in Monochrome
Drifting into Kiama on the whims of the early light, the harbour beckoned me for an impromptu exploration. With the sun casting its first golden strokes across the clouds, I released my drone into the crisp morning air, letting it dance above the tranquil waters.
As I piloted it around, the sight of three boats tethered in harmony against the still, dark waters of the harbour struck a chord. Back on the ground, with the images sprawled before me, one frame stood out – its elegance lay in its stark simplicity.
Through the drone's eye, the scene was transformed into a minimalist tableau. The choice to strip the image of colour, embracing a monochromatic palette, amplified the serenity and singular beauty of the trio's repose. The shadows deepened, the whites gleamed brighter, and the image settled into a timeless narrative.
In this moment, captured from above, the ordinary was elevated to art. Three boats, harbour wall, and the silent dialogue between light and dark compose the day's visual sonnet.
