Day 159 of 366: Capturing the Drama at Boat Harbour
After another 150 mm of rain fell over yesterday and this morning, I decided to wait until the afternoon to venture out for today's photograph. My morning was spent setting up my exhibition at the Gerringong Library and Museum. Once everything was in place and I had finished for the day, I eagerly headed down to Boat Harbour in Gerringong, ready to capture the dramatic scenes that the wild weather had created.
The Choppy Seas and Stormy Clouds
My goal for the day was to capture the choppy seas and stormy clouds that were still hanging around. The continuous heavy rain had transformed the landscape, making it perfect for photographing the dramatic interplay between the sea and the sky. One of the most exciting features was a waterfall that only appears after heavy rain. This rare sight provided a unique opportunity for a special photograph.
Leveraging Drone Technology
To achieve the best possible angles and perspectives, I decided to use my drone. Flying the drone over Boat Harbour allowed me to capture views that were otherwise inaccessible and unsafe due to the wild sea conditions. The drone provided an unparalleled perspective, highlighting the dark, dramatic sky and the turbulent sea below. The waterfall cascading over the cliffs, framed by stormy clouds and rough seas, created a striking composition.
Post-Processing and Reflection
Upon returning home, I began the meticulous process of sorting through and editing today's captures. The stormy weather, combined with the vibrant landscape, provided a wealth of material to work with. Each image told a powerful story of nature's relentless force and its inherent beauty. The dark, dramatic sky, the churning sea, and the flowing waterfall all came together to create truly compelling photographs.
I'm excited to share these images with you all. Please take a moment to view the photos and comment below to let me know which one is your favourite!
