Day 151 of 366: Capturing Early Morning Shadows
A Morning with the Drone:
This morning, I decided to put the drone up as the first light crested the hills, aiming to capture a top-down shot of the cows with their long shadows cast in the early morning light. The goal was to highlight the dramatic contrast created by the low sun and the shadows stretching across the green pasture.
Positioning for the Perfect Shot:
Moving the drone slowly into position, I was careful not to frighten the cows. Looking straight down, the shadows aligned perfectly, creating a visually striking pattern on the grass. The combination of the long shadows and the cows grazing in the field made for a compelling composition.
Quick Editing Process:
Once back home, the editing process was straightforward. I cropped the image to remove any negative space, focusing on the dynamic interaction between the cows and their shadows. The final image captured the essence of the early morning scene, with the shadows adding depth and interest to the composition.
Heading to Sydney:
After this successful shoot, I’m off to Sydney for a couple of days to photograph Vivid Sydney and the cityscape at night. This will be an exciting opportunity to capture the vibrant lights and energy of the city during one of its most visually stunning events.
Reflecting on the Experience:
Today’s shoot was a reminder of the beauty that can be found in everyday scenes when viewed from a different perspective. The drone allowed me to capture a unique angle, transforming a simple moment of cows grazing into a work of art. The interplay of light and shadow created a dynamic and engaging image that showcases the power of early morning light.
