Pulse of the Sea

from $330.00

Limited edition of 10

Location: blackhead, Gerroa

As I stood on the rugged coastline, I felt compelled to capture the commanding presence of the seascape before me. Positioning my camera at a low angle, I aimed to give onlookers the visceral sensation of being amidst the onrush of the waves, a technique that also allowed the horizon to rest near the top of the frame, accentuating the grandeur of the space. Coolangatta Mountain, centred at the horizon, provides not just a focal point but also a sense of scale, reinforcing the vastness that surrounded me.

With the decision to use a slow shutter speed, I wanted to encapsulate the dual nature of the sea—its raw strength and its graceful flow. The camera shutter closed slowly, blurring the rushing water into streaks of motion that suggest speed and power, yet the essence of the water's form remained intact. This approach rendered an image that was as truthful to the scene's spirit as it was to its visual details, preserving the integrity of the seascape that so deeply moved me.
