Mirrored Cascade
Location: Somersby falls, Gosford
Limited edition of 10
Sometimes a photo just calls to be taken, and this was one of those times. Making my way down to this waterfall, I was captivated by the reflection in the water. The scene before me was one of tranquil beauty—a multi-tiered waterfall flowing over layered rocks, the water rendered into a silky cascade by a long exposure. The waterfall itself, a delicate interplay of light and motion, was framed by the lush, vibrant greenery of an untouched forest.
The foliage, illuminated with life, offered a stark contrast to the dark, moist stones that formed the foundation of the fall. Below, a still pool mirrored the serene spectacle, creating a surreal and enchanting double image. The glass-like surface of the water doubled the lush scene, adding an immersive depth to the composition.
In this quiet woodland retreat, details like the leaves delicately floating on the water's surface, and a lone branch reaching out as if to touch its own reflection, enriched the peacefulness. The textures of the scene, from the smooth surface of the water to the rugged face of the rocks, all spoke of a place where time stands still and nature performs its quiet symphony. It was a calming and surreal experience, a moment of pure tranquility where the act of photography felt like a respectful whisper in the grand aria of the natural world.
