Day 281 of 366: A Sunrise Farewell

Today marks a significant milestone in my 366-day photography journey—not just in terms of geography but also in capturing the profound beauty of celestial transitions. As I prepare to fly out to Hawaii, my goal is to photograph the sunrise on this side of the Pacific Ocean and then capture the sunset in Hawaii, completing a 36-hour day bathed in golden light.

Morning Farewell at Boat Harbour

The day began early at Gerringong Cemetery, a location that overlooks the scenic Boat Harbour. With expectations high and the drone ready, I launched into the dawn sky just as the first hints of light began to paint the horizon. The high clouds to the south provided a perfect canvas, capturing the soft, diffused light of the sunrise. From above, Boat Harbour was transformed into a landscape of dramatic contrasts, with the dark, rugged shoreline framed by the gentle blush of dawn.

The Flight to Hawaii

As I board the plane, the anticipation of capturing the sunset in Hawaii adds a thrilling edge to the journey. The concept of chasing the sun from one iconic location to another, bridging two spectacular events in one continuous narrative, is an exhilarating challenge that drives my passion for photography.

Sunset Awaiting in Hawaii

Upon landing, I Plan to capture the sunset from western shores of Hawaii, where the sun will set over the vast Pacific. This sunset will not just signify the end of a day but also symbolize a personal and creative journey that spans oceans and time zones.

Reflections on the Day

Today’s photographic Endeavor is about more than just technical skill; it’s about the symbolic journey of following the light from dawn to dusk, across the breadth of the Pacific. This day exemplifies the spirit of adventure that photography instils—a pursuit that is perpetually rewarding and always full of surprises.

Join me on my blog as I share the full story of this extraordinary day, from the serene sunrise at Boat Harbour to the anticipated sunset in Hawaii. Witness how a single day can encapsulate the magic of natural light and the enduring allure of the ocean's horizon.
