Day 7: Sunrise and Symmetry - One Week of Photographic Storytelling

Today marks the first week milestone of my year-long photography project, and the day began not with the click of a shutter but with the routine of my day job—milking cows. Yet, even amidst the rhythm of the dairy, my project persisted. I set up my DJI Pocket 2 to capture a time-lapse of the sunrise, turning the sky from a sleepy blue to a canvas alight with hues of orange and pink, as I went about my morning tasks.

Photography, for me, sprouted from these early hours on the farm, back when it was our family's livelihood. Now, as the farm has passed on to be leased by another couple, I still find myself drawn to the familiar cadence of farm life, milking a few mornings each week. It's during these mornings that I've noticed a pattern: the promise of a glorious sunrise is almost certain.

Using the time-lapse to tell today's story felt fitting—a way to pay homage to the setting that first inspired my passion for photography. The resulting footage is a poignant reminder of where my journey began, with each frame a note in the visual melody of dawn breaking over the farm.

As I watch the time-lapse, it strikes me that this project is more than just a daily task; it's a celebration of full-circle moments. It's about finding the extraordinary in the ordinary and recognising that every day brings its own narrative, waiting to be captured.

So here's to the sunrises that keep calling me back, to the land that has shaped my vision, and to the stories that unfold in the simple act of living. One week down, many more to go, and countless moments to capture and cherish.
