Day 63: Aerial Dance of Light and Water

Dinner at the Gerringong Bowling Club had just wrapped up, and the sun was bidding its daily farewell, painting the sky in soft hues of dusk. On a spur-of-the-moment decision, I dashed to Ourie Pool at Werri Beach, hoping the day's last light would offer a spectacle worthy of capture.

As I released my drone into the cooling air, the palette of sunset had begun to fade, but the world from above was still rife with opportunity. I’d shot the top-down view of the pool before, but tonight was different—the dwindling light lent itself to a slower shutter speed, allowing the ocean’s motion to blur into a silky caress against the jagged rocks.

The drone hovered, a silent observer, as the dance between the steadfast pool and the ever-moving sea unfolded beneath. The resulting image was one of contrast and harmony; the stillness of the pool juxtaposed with the dynamic rush of the ocean, both caught in a singular, serene moment.

This shot from Day 63 is a testament to the unexpected beauty that awaits when you seize the fleeting moments just after the sun dips below the horizon. It's a reminder that sometimes, the true essence of a scene is best captured not in the full light of day, but in the subdued and subtle interplay of twilight.
