Day 39: The Vivid Tapestry of Werri Beach

As the day unfolded, a dramatic skyscape began to form with high clouds streaming in from the west, setting the stage for a brief but captivating photographic escapade at Werri Beach. The ocean, painted in hues of deep turquoise, contrasted with the sun-kissed sand, creating a vivid tableau under the grandeur of the overhead display.

Eager to encompass the expansive beauty before me, I equipped my camera with a super wide-angle lens, the only tool fit to capture such a scenic vista in its entirety. The resulting image was a panorama of natural splendour, with the superb clouds standing as billowing witnesses to the scene below.

In the quiet aftermath, as I processed the day's catch, I found myself at a creative crossroads. The monochrome version emphasized the textures and drama of the clouds, while the colour rendition sang with the afternoon's vibrant essence. After a moment of reflection, I chose to preserve the scene in colour, as it was the chromatic harmony that truly embodied the spirit of the afternoon.

The decision to keep the image in colour was a celebration of the day's palette—the golden radiance of the sand, the azure of the water, and the myriad shades of the sky. It's in moments like these that the choice of colour over monochrome is not just an aesthetic preference but a homage to the essence of the moment as it was experienced.

Day 39 of my journey brought with it a reminder that photography is as much about capturing a scene as it is about reliving an experience through the image. In choosing colour, I chose to immortalize the day's warmth, its light, and the feeling of standing before such a spectacle, camera in hand, grateful for the ever-changing canvas of our world.
