Day 325 of 366: Cloudscapes and Country Vistas

This afternoon presented a remarkable sight as the clouds gathered with a majestic presence over the lush landscape. The view out east was spectacular, with dynamic cloud formations rolling across the horizon, promising rain and adding drama to the vast pastoral scenes below. I seized the moment, sending my drone skyward to capture the expansive beauty of this natural display.

Flying above the familiar terrains, the drone’s lens captured not just the beauty of the cloudy skies but also the vivid greens of the meadows and patches of forest that make up this picturesque countryside. It's these contrasts—dark, brooding skies against the vibrant land—that often create the most compelling images.

This aerial perspective gives a fresh appreciation for the scale and beauty of the South Coast's landscapes. It’s moments like these that truly remind me why I embarked on this 366-day photography journey: to capture the ever-changing face of nature and the timeless beauty of the earth below.

Whether it’s the intricate detail of a single flower or the vastness of cloud-filled skies, each day brings new scenes to behold and new challenges to capture. Today, it was about the grandeur of the skies and the serene pastoral life below—a reminder of the small part we play in this vast, beautiful world.

Drone Settings:

  • Altitude: Approximately 120 meters

  • Camera: DJI Mavic 3 Pro

  • Mode: Panorama to capture the full breadth of the scene

  • ISO: Auto, to adjust dynamically to the cloudy conditions

  • Shutter Speed: Fast enough to capture the moving clouds without blur

As I approach the final stretch of this year-long project, each photo adds to a diary of visual stories that I hope to share for years to come. Each image not only captures a moment in time but also tells a story of the day, the mood, and the ever-surprising beauty of nature.
