Day 251 of 366: A Morning of Unexpected Beauty at Little Austi Beach

This morning’s journey began with a drive towards the northern suburbs of Wollongong, a spontaneous decision led me to Little Austi Beach instead of my initial destination, Wombarra Pool. The change in plans proved to be serendipitous as I was greeted by a stunning natural display that was too good not to capture.

The Allure of Little Austi Beach

Upon arriving at the beach, the scene was almost surreal. The low tide revealed expansive rock formations covered in vibrant green moss, contrasting starkly against the soft sand. The early morning light brought out the rich hues of the moss, painting the beach with an otherworldly glow.

Sunrise Transformation

As the sun rose, the sky transformed, with clouds igniting in brilliant pinks and oranges. This dramatic backdrop highlighted the vivid greens of the moss, creating a landscape that seemed more akin to a vivid painting than a simple sunrise. The interplay of colours was so striking that it compelled me to extend my stay at the beach to fully capture its splendour.

Drone Perspectives and Editing Challenges

After the sun was well above the horizon, I took the opportunity to launch my drone and capture some aerial views of the beach. The top-down shots revealed intricate patterns in the landscape that were not visible from ground level. Upon returning home and beginning the editing process, I found myself adjusting the saturation of the moss to ensure the photos retained a natural look, despite the surreal appearance.
