Day 17: Unveiling the Unseen at Ourie Ocean Pool
Day 17 of my photographic journey brought a fresh perspective to a familiar haunt—the Ourie Ocean Pool. Discovering that the pool was emptied for maintenance presented a unique opportunity. Where water usually brimmed, now lay a rare sight: a miniature waterfall created by the ocean's relentless ingress, a sight unseen on ordinary days.
Armed with my camera and the first light of day adding a subtle hue to the skies, I positioned myself to capture this seldom-seen spectacle. The lack of water in the pool transformed the typical scene into a landscape reimagined, with the cascade becoming the focal point of nature's temporary redesign.
Getting down low, I framed the shot to emphasise the waterfall's delicate journey over the rocks, into the pool's basin. The water's fluid motion against the solid backdrop of the pool's structure created a visual dialogue between the ephemeral and the eternal.
This morning's shoot was a dance with the unexpected, a reminder that beauty often resides in the transient alterations of our environment. It was a moment to appreciate the ever-changing character of the places we think we know well, and a chance to document the rare and fleeting transformations they undergo.
As I continue this daily exploration, moments like these underscores the essence of my project: to witness and capture the ever-evolving canvas of the world around us. Stay tuned for what tomorrow may reveal in this ongoing pursuit of the extraordinary in the everyday.
