Day 136 of 366: Rediscovering Childhood Memories with a Drone

Finding Inspiration:

Today, I was struggling to find my creative vibe, searching for the perfect idea for my daily photograph. My sister, noticing my dilemma, suggested flying the drone to capture one of the waterfalls on our property—a place we both cherished and explored extensively as kids. This sparked a sense of nostalgia and excitement, motivating me to give it a try.

The Journey to the Waterfall:

With the drone ready, I decided to fly it along the creek, capturing the flowing water as it meandered through the landscape. The aerial perspective offered a fresh view of our familiar surroundings. As the drone approached the remnant rainforest, I carefully navigated above the canopy of trees, hoping to spot the waterfall from the air.

Capturing the Perfect Shot:

Finally, I glimpsed the waterfall amidst the dense foliage. I carefully maneuvered the drone between the trees, ensuring not to hit any branches. Getting as close as I dared, I captured a couple of shots of the waterfall before flying the drone back out and returning home, hopeful that the images would be sharp and compelling.

Editing and Refining the Image:

Back home, I eagerly uploaded the images to my computer. Among the shots, I found the one that perfectly captured the essence of the waterfall. After a quick edit and crop to focus solely on the waterfall, the final image emerged. The surrounding trees appeared soft and didn’t add much to the story, so I chose to emphasize the waterfall itself.

Reflections on the Day:

Today’s adventure with the drone was a delightful blend of modern technology and childhood memories. Revisiting a place that holds so many fond memories with my sister added a layer of sentiment to the creative process. Using the drone allowed me to see the waterfall from a new perspective, rekindling my passion for photography and exploration.
