Day 132 of 366: Chasing the Supermoon at Werri Beach Pool

A Night with the Supermoon

The allure of capturing the supermoon had me venturing out after a busy day at my exhibition in Kiama. With clouds meandering across the sky, I decided to head towards Gerringong, hoping for clearer views.

Setting the Scene at Werri Beach Pool

My journey ended at Werri Beach Pool, a place that has always offered more than just oceanic backdrops—it’s a stage where the natural world showcases its quiet dramas. Tonight, the pool served as the perfect foreground against the rising moon, though the clouds persisted, mottling the sky with shades of grey and dark blue.

Capturing the Elusive Moon

Positioned on the rock platform, the moon was visible but veiled by the night's cloudy curtain. It wasn’t the clear shot I had envisioned, but the atmosphere was undeniable. I adjusted my settings, aiming to capture the textured landscape under the moon's subtle glow.

The Art of Editing

Back at home, the true magic happened during editing. The moon, initially a shy presence in the photos, revealed more of its details as I tweaked the contrasts and highlights. The editing process is always a quiet reflection of the shoot—each adjustment bringing me back to the moment, under the moonlit sky.

Reflecting on the Night

Photography often mirrors life—unpredictable, sometimes unsatisfying, but always ripe with potential. Tonight was not about capturing the perfect shot of the supermoon but embracing the imperfect beauty of the night. As I look back at the photos, I see more than just images; I see a narrative of persistence, a testament to chasing moments that fleetingly light our world.
